Q: Did you get plastic surgery in Korea or in the states?
A: Korea.
Q: What kind of procedure did you get?
A: Double eye-lid and my tear ducts and nose job.
Q: Why did you get plastic surgery? Was it suggested to you like most Korean parents suggest their kids to do?
A: My grandma in Korea actually pushed me to do it. She told me that my eyes were too small and after my cousin got plastic surgery she got a lot prettier. She told me if I got surgery I'd look more prettier than before.
Q: So did you get plastic surgery because you wanted it or because your parents and people pressured you?
A: Some what both I think. Mostly because I wanted it too. I have nothing against plastic surgery and it never hurts to enhance features you like. I liked my eyes before but I love my eyes now. It's easier to wear and put on eyeliners now than it was when I had monolids.
Q: Do you think you changed as a person after the surgery? Identity wise.
A: Everyone changes when they go through something like this. Identity wise, I think I changed for the better.
Q: Do you feel like you've gained acceptance in society?
A: Yeah definitely. I feel like I belong now, more so in the US than in Korea. After I've gotten surgery in Korea and came back home here, a lot of people have told me that I look different and that I got prettier. They told me something looked different and that I look more white. I know it sounds weird but hearing that I look white was sort of like an achievement.
Q: What do you tell people when they ask you if you got plastic surgery?
